Where can I get a download of the game?You may download Ski Challenge free of charge. Go to our Product website to find the links for the current version of the game for your country.
Why is the game free of charge?We can offer the game for free because we use in-game advertising, sponsors placing ads in the game, financed by cooperations with partner companies.
How can I set the language to be used in the game?Ski Challenge is offered in various countries. During installation you are presented with the option of choosing a language. All editions contain the languages of the countries in which they are offered. You must re-install the game to select a new language.
Where are the controls for the game?The arrow keys are usually used as control keys, but other keys can be selected.
Why aren't all tracks available at the start?The tracks are added at intervals during the season. After a racing weekend is completed, your program is automatically updated with the new track via internet.
Why doesn't the tournament mode work?
To participate in a tournament, you need to register and have a working internet connection. Registration is free. You may then click Qualify or Tournament, and log on using your nickname and password to participate.
How do I qualify for a race?To take part in competitions, you need to make a certain qualification time, which is specified in the track description of each race.
How can I select my ski group?
The website which displays your profile also allows you to start your own ski group and invite friends to participate.
How do group races work?In addition to regular tournaments, for which you have to qualify, you may also stage your own tournament for your ski group. Under „group races“ you can select the starting time, duration and track conditions, after which an invitation is automatically sent to all friends in your ski group.
Can I make a video of my race?You may select and start a track in play mode. The second menu allows you to select a ghost whose race can be either viewed or saved. During training you can open the Pause menu and make a video of your race up to that point.
Why does it take so long to make a video?
Pictures are shown in real time, which takes a while for our server and your PC to prepare. NOTE: the speed of the recording is slower than that of the final video file which is then stored on your Desktop.
How can I improve my performance?When first starting out you are advised to use the green beginner's skis the first time you go on the slopes. The ski instructor can help you too, if you follow the path the trainer takes. If you tend to lose your balance when turning, it is better to avoid sharp turns and make wider circles. The Pause menu in training also allows you to 'jump back' in 5-second intervals and try again from that point in order to get more practice on difficult stretches. Practice makes perfect!
Technical Questions:
Why can't I start the game after installation?Your hardware may not fulfil the requirements of the program. In order to play, you must have at least:
Processor: at least 2 GHz
User memory (RAM): 512 MB
Grafics card: GeForce4 or equivalent
Operating system: All Windows starting from Win2000 If the graphics card fulfils the requirements, you may still need to update the driver. You can download updates from the manufacturer's website. 90 percent of all problems related to graphics cards are caused by outdated drivers.
Why doesn't the game run smoothly? Why does it take so long to load?In the first window (benchmark) you can manually configure the game under „Settings“. We recommend clicking “Reset”, which returns the program to the standard settings. This should 'smooth out' the picture. Should the game still not run properly, turn the “Effects” to “Off”, and the “Visual range” should also be reduced. If none of this helps, we recommend selecting a lower resolution. There should be no other programs running in the background.
Why doesn't the internet connection work?You need to be connected to the internet in order to take part in online competitions. It often occurs that the settings of firewalls, proxy servers or virus protection programs keep a computer from establishing an online connection to the game. Please check the settings of the following programs on your computer. Tip for the proxy server: under Control Panel/Internet Options/Connections/Settings, you will find the check box "Use proxy server for LAN", then you should enter the address of your own proxy server or the port used!
How can I turn off the full screen mode?When starting the game you may switch the full screen setting on or off under „Manual Settings“.
What is the right configuration for my firewall for SC ?If your firewall does not allow you to connect to the game online, you may need to change the settings of your firewall. In order to enable a connection to the game and game server, you need to allow access to the following ports and IP-addresses: TCP, Port 80, Server: sc11.gameserver.greentube.com
