Race story

The World Cup arrives at the most spectacular venue in alpine skiing — Schladming and the legendary Planai.

Since 1997, the Planai has hosted the most electrifying event on the World Cup calendar. What started with 27,000 fans watching Alberto Tomba claim the first floodlit victory has grown into THE ultimate ski racing spectacle — up to 50,000 fans turning night into day, creating an atmosphere unmatched anywhere in the world. The finish stadium sits right in the heart of town, transforming Schladming into a white-hot cauldron of pure adrenaline.

The course itself is brutally demanding — 216 vertical meters with gradients up to 54%. The steep finish slope punishes any hesitation. Under the floodlights, with tens of thousands watching, every turn becomes a battle between precision and pressure. Champions like Tomba, Benjamin Raich, and Marcel Hirscher have conquered this mountain. In 2025, Norway’s Timon Haugan took the crown. Now it’s your turn.

This weekend we go all-in with two World Cup Race Events:

  • One-Try Race – one run, full commitment, no second chances.
  • Unlimited Event – hunt the perfect line and push for your fastest time.

Schladming rewards aggression, technique, and ice-cold nerves under pressure. The floodlights expose every weakness. The crowd amplifies every mistake. Whether you’re battling for the overall World Cup title, chasing a podium, or simply want to experience the most atmospheric race in skiing history — Schladming is calling.

Training begins on Wednesday and lasts until Friday.

The race takes place on Saturday and Sunday.
